ABOUT our travel Soccer Program
Tidewater Sharks Travel Soccer has increased emphasis on improving the overall soccer experience for our players. We provide quality fields, coaches, and players to challenge all Sharks to reach the highest level possible. Our coaches are required to maintain a minimum of an USSF “E” license along with having previous college/high-level soccer experiences. The coaching slates are determined based on the needs of the team and the qualification of the coach. The Director of Coaching, Martin Vickerton, determines all finalized coaching slates.
The focus of training consists of two training sessions (minimum) a week with their coach. With an emphasis on both technical and tactical aspects of the game, the coaches are encouraged to find a progressive approach tailored to the level of the individual players while simultaneously bridging the gap through team unity.
The game schedule usually consists of either a Saturday or Sunday commitment with some travel depending on their league. Additionally, there are tournaments available throughout the year to challenge our players to exceed at a higher level outside of the Williamsburg area. Tournaments are chosen based on players’ and/or coaches’ availability, cost, qualification into the tournament, and Director of Coaching recommendations.
At the travel level, players are encouraged to train year-round with our Summer Academy, Winter-Indoor league, and any other technical training opportunities. This creates consistency conducive to overall player development.
