Chris Scrofani

Executive Director

Chris has been involved with coaching soccer for over 25 years. He played collegiately at William and Mary (1992-1995). He went on to play professionally for five years primarily with the Hampton Roads Mariners. He also spent time in England with Crystal Palace of the Barclays Premier League. Chris has coached all ages beginning with the Lil Sharks Soccer Academy at 2 years. He has coached teams at the club level with Colonial FC, VA Rush, VA Legacy and Tidewater Sharks. He served as assistant coach with The College of William and Mary (Undergrad Assistant) and as Head Assistant Men’s Coach at Christopher Newport University. Chris holds a USSF B License and coaches the Tidewater Sharks 2012 ECNL/RL Boys and the VA Reign 2009 ECNL/RL Boys.

 

Martin Vickerton

Club Director

Martin, originally from England, came up through the youth system at Nottingham Forest FC, from U8 all the way up to playing for the first team. Martin moved to the US in 2006, where he played collegiately for Longwood University winning many honors (2006-2010). During the 2007-2009 summers, Martin played for Ottawa Fury in the PDL. He also represented Great Britain in 2007, at the World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand,  scoring against Morocco. After college he served as Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at West Virginia Wesleyan College while completing his MBA. He holds a USSF B License, English Football Association Level 2 License,  United Soccer Coaches DOC, Club Development, GK Level 1 and Futsal Level 1 Diplomas. In addition to overseeing all aspects of the club, Martin coaches the U13 Boys NPL, U17 Boys NPL and also serves as co-director of Virginia Reign FC coaching the 2007 and 2009 Girls.

 

Michael Boyko

Boys Director

Born and raised in Williamsburg, Michael Boyko played his youth soccer with Williamsburg Soccer Club, Colonial FC, and Legacy SC. At the U-16 level, his team won Gold in indoor soccer at the AAU Junior Olympics in New Orleans. He played three years of varsity soccer at Lafayette High School; receiving first team honors for the Bay Rivers District on two occasions. After high school, Michael played at Bridgewater College for their ’08 and ’09 seasons. Before he began coaching, Michael was very familiar with Williamsburg’s soccer culture. He played in the summer leagues at Bush Field, and later at the WISC where he has been playing regularly since the doors opened in 2000. He has been coaching with the Tidewater Sharks since the fall of 2012, acquiring a NSCAA Level 5 Diploma and a USSF E-License. Michael the directs the AP Sharks Boys Program and coaches the U11 and U16 Boys NPL, as well as the 2010 Virginia Reign team.

 

Travis Kirby

Yorktown Sharks Director

Travis has been coaching soccer for over 20 years. He was a VHSL all-state goalkeeper at Tabb High School and went on to play for the club team at Clemson University in the late 80’s. Upon graduation, he began his coaching career with the Yorktown United Soccer club (U12 -U17B) and later played key coaching roles in the varsity girls’ programs at both Tabb and Grafton high school in the mid-late 90’s. He then spent 4 years coaching for the Virginia Rush Soccer Club in their developmental and travel programs before accepting an opportunity to become Director of Coaching @ Yorktown FC Soccer Club in 2011. He and his other volunteer coaches helped grow the club to over 200+ players and played a pivotal role in the success of the 01G YFC Freedom and 05B YFC Attack teams for many years. Travis holds a USSF E-license, GK level 1 license, and continues to be a strong advocate for COERVER coaching methods. In addition to overseeing the Yorktown based teams, Travis hopes to remain active with coaching within the 2005B age group.

 
 

Justin Cook

Goalkeeper Director

Coach Cook has been with the Tidewater Sharks for what will be his 7th year. Cook grew up in Southwestern Virginia and played competitively for SWVA Rush. Following high school he played four years collegiately as a goalkeeper at NAIA Division 1 Bluefield College where he graduated with a Bachelors in Exercise and Sports Science in 2014. From 2015-2018 Cook coached 4 VISAA D2 All-State Goalkeepers on both the Girls’ and Boys’ sides (2 respectively). Prior to being named club goalkeeper director, Cook has served in many various roles throughout the club and is currently with the 2011, 2008, and 2006 Boys. Justin is also the current head coach at Warhill High School. He brings over 20 years of playing experience as well 8 years of coaching experience.
